A friend of mine has my copy right now. Anybody want to give it a shot and see how it looks, maybe post some pics?

640x448 isn't HD but it's better than 480p.

I bet this is gonna piss off alot of people who already beat the game. :(

Yeah, certainly not HD. I guess I titled the thread as such assuming most people would be trying this higher rez on HD sets so I wanted to read reactions to that experiment. I'm going to try and get my buddy to bring my copy over tonight to see how it looks.

Early reports say it is a bit sharper, so we shall see. Regardless, the massive blade life bar is not too friendly to my Pioneer plasma. It's the only game that has ever given me any IR issues. Gone after about 5 minutes of regular tv, but still, not the most pleasant experience.

Just tried it, looks noticably sharper... but not a big difference.

Whats the deal with this. Why wait damned near a whole month after releasing the game to put this out. What is Sony doing?

Can anyone just tell us how to put it in HD without having to go through the website? Can we get a link to the page with the countdown?

Cool, I got stuck on the roman numeral puzzle, but if you double click on the proceed button it skips to the next scene until you hit the countdown.

There are lots of videos with commentary from the development crew, it is worth checking out.

Uh, no, it's not better than 480p. But it's closer to 480p than the 512x512 or 512x448 or whatever the game normally renders at (the PS2 does analog scaling to 480i or 480p from a variety of internal resolutions). The new mode is closer to real 480p with the tradeoff being a slight framerate hit in parts.

Yeah, I tried it on my PS3 and it worked like a charm.

My controller needed charging, anyway, so I plugged it in using a USB extender cable so I could sit on the couch and leave it plugged in. I got the purple legal screen without any problem.

I noticed a definite improvement on the quality of the big foes, and I did notice a little bit of frame drop when there were a lot of characters on the screen. But, it wasn't any more bothersome than the occasional tear.

I've noticed an overall improvement in PQ. The text even looks more vibrant. Maybe this will give me the kick start to continue on in Titan Mode.

I tried this out last night on both PS2 and PS3 on my 60" screen. It was late, but I had a real hard time noticing the difference. I did get the pink letters in the first screen and switched to progressive mode, but wasn't convinced it was working. So I restarted without the code and the text in the menus looked a tad softer w/o the code, but it really doesn't make that big of difference.

It's nice the feature is there, but not something to re-play the game for.
