Any advantage to putting green glue between the studs and the first layer of drywall? In the back and right side of my room (see pics in sig) I'll be putting drywall on bare studs.
To give you a feel for my situation: I'm splurging on 3 tubes/sheet and doing my best to keep sound in this room. It's relatively isolated from the kid's end of the house, but I'm on a personal quest to sound isolate the room.
I've seen one reference to gg on studs in earlier threads, but nothing definitive. It's tough to search for, however, since green glue and studs are so common.
All the tests I see on the GG site show green glue between panels (wood, drywall, whatever).
Whats the consensus opinion?
a) a bad idea (structurally bad, no value, etc.)
b) can't hurt, but no data
c) great idea
If it's (b) or (c), any advice on how much? Just wiggle a stripe down the stud? In my case, it will be over the kraft paper from the insulation.

As far as I know, after reading on the GG website and here and talking with multiple people, GG does no good between studs and drywall. It needs to be compressed to a thin layer between drywall layers, or as I learned this morning, between drywall and plasterboard.
All it'll do on studs is empty your wallet faster. :)

I used Integrity Gasket (http://www.integritygasket.com/) on my room - (which is what it's designed for) along with DD and GG.
I think the Integrity Gasket was less than $150 for the case - enough to do a room a little bigger than my 13x18 room. I think I have a couple rolls left from the case of 10 rolls (so 200 feet left out of a 1000).
The room isn't finished yet so I can't comment on how well the combo worked, but several others have and had good things to say.

Thanks for the info, guys. I'll save my money. Where does one find Integrity Gasket? Their website says 'call for info', and I'm spoiled by the internet age. Telephone? What's that?

I believe he is correct on this.

I now have intimate experience with GG. Yesterday I managed to pierce one of our heating water lines with a 2.5" drywall screw while putting up one of the last four pieces of drywall to go on the DD+GG theater ceiling. We quickly cut out a drywall hole and had the pipe repaired within an hour, but I managed to rub my head against the ceiling where the GG was sitting while doing it!
You know how they say on the GG tube that a citrus cleaner will remove it? They ain't lying! We had the water shut off so I had to walk around smelling like a really strong orange for a little while, but it got the glue out of my hair!
And yes, we replaced the drywall sheets that were sprayed with the heating water. :)

Don't was your GG on the studs there is not enough surface area to make it worthwhile. I asked the same question when I did my theater.
