My vote is for the carpet wrap. It looks less stark to me and blends in well.

I think the carpet wrapped step looks much more finished and elegant. You already have a lot of wood surface up front and I think too much just overwhelms the look. The carpet wrap I think really makes a big difference and it is very subtle.

I like the carpet.
If you use wood you will probably have a reflective finish of some sort on it and it will reflect some light and be even more noticeable during movies. Now that I pointed that out it will bug you every time you see it.

I went to your thread and that theater is looking good!!!

I like the carpet wrap. Personally, I'd do all carpet on the steps but if you want wood faces, I think the carpet wrap with a small lip overhang would be sharp looking.

Yep, put me down for carpet. Nice, finished look.

And, if you'll lucky, you'll make a grown man cry. The first installer who came out to do my install was terribly upset about having to do the complete carpet trim. They had to send out their "A" team the next day. They didn't cry, but there was lots of swearing. Fortunately, it's a sound insulated room!

They did a great job, it just was a hell of a lot of work.

Good luck!

I like the Carpet wrap.

But all that stuff on the screen gives me a cramped feeling. The columns and the case work are over powering the screen. Just too much to look at...
