View Full Version : Warner: Please stop using your HD DVD Cases
zalahmar 04-14-07, 12:24 AM Swith to the Universal ones. Anything is better than yours. I've really had it with brand new HD DVDs arriving in defective cases. From the last 20 Warner movies I bought, I probably had 4 damaged where the circular tabs that hold the DVD in place were broken. I just received a shipment of 6 HD DVDs straight from Warner today and 2 of them had broken HD DVD holder tabs. Grrrr....
Thank god we actually have a source to buy HD DVD cases now, which wasn't the case even a couple of months ago, but that's no excuse for defective cases to start with.
rosscan 04-14-07, 01:23 AM I've heard similar reports from this sale. Looks like I'm in for an adventure with the discs coming from LA to NY.
Gary Murrell 04-14-07, 02:24 AM the Warner Viva Elite cases are the best of them all, Fox use them for their Blu-Ray releases
I have tried for a solid 15 mins to dislodge a disc from the Elites when closed, they have 2 holders that pinch down on the disc to hold it into place in addition to the hub, like I said, I have never got one to come loose
now if you are speaking of those older Warner type cases, those were total **** :(
look on the inside and see if it has the Viva Elite logo, those are amazing cases IMHO

HomerJay 04-14-07, 02:47 AM look on the inside and see if it has the Viva Elite logo, those are amazing cases IMHOEven the color is nicer. It's more clear than the first Warner cases. I never had a problem with the early Warner cases, personally. I also really like the Elite cases. They're probably my favorite. Even then, I don't really mind the Universal cases (once the locking tab is tucked away, that is).
My least favorite HD DVD case is Amaray's sad attempt at a "next-gen" case... :o ...it's the same size as other HD DVD cases but it's as thick as ancient DVD cases... ...it just seems so clunky in comparison. The only title that I have with such a case is an import: Stalingrad. I wonder if all Fox Pathe releases use such awful cases.
luigionlsd 04-14-07, 02:52 AM I think I'm in the minority, but I actually like the clasp BD/HD cases best (like Casino Royale BD and King Kong HD -- or is that only the 360 pack-in?). I wish everyone would use at least that thickness of case, clasp or not.

laserguns 04-14-07, 03:02 AM I was about to start a thread like this begging Warner to stop using freakin ROUNDED EDGES on their cover art!
Pisses me off
Warners always had issues with disc case. Their early DVD snap cases were bad as well. But they have switched all their newer stuff to normal cases.
Sames seems to be happening with their HDDVDs. Although my favorite so far is the Harry potter import case. It clips well. and has a raised HDDVD letters on the top
Mr. Cinema 04-14-07, 09:18 AM you can buy replacement cases here: www.sleevetown.com
I received Bullitt (HD DVD) the other day and circular tabs were all broken.
belladrum 04-14-07, 09:40 AM Anyone has the Link to Warner Bros. for the HD movies and the Discount codes.
Thanks
hawkeye3.1 04-14-07, 09:48 AM Had broken keeper tabs on 2 of the 4 HD DVDs recently purchased directly from WHV also. They will replace them and reimburse for return shipping, but it still a PITA.

This is a great a site I ordered 10 cases for my current japan import. And a few others. They work well.
Fast shiping took 4 days with USPS.
I can see having to buy a few for when Total HD comes out :/
HomerJay 04-14-07, 11:43 AM I can see having to buy a few for when Total HD comes out :/They should eliminate this problem by either a) not releasing Total HD or b) just use red cases since Blu-ray fans seem content with rushed, incomplete products, etc... ;)

yea they need a serious overhaul - do like Universal whose cover art inserts always fits the cases perfectly. The Warner ones not only have rounded edges but they dont' fit at all being too short for the cases. So after many openings and usage, the spine is totally mis-aligned and I have to manually re-adjust it.
