The children of men HD DVD won't play on my updated XA2..... the dvd side works fine, just recently watched a whole bunch of HD DVDs on this thing over the last week and they work fine now too, so its just this disc.... this blows.. so I can't see this in HD now?! or perhaps its just the disc?

EDIT: nevermind sorry I found the topic, so... what is my situation here, should I just get a new copy? It seems like thats what Ill have to do, anyone else got into this problem and just got a new disc? This sucks.

I just got my copy today but I haven't tried it on my XA2. I am still running firmware 1.0. Are you updated to 1.5?

I got a second disc - also didn't work. I received a return mailer from Universal today; they want me to return the disks so they can "examine" them.

my XA2 is updated to the latest version..... Im going to go buy a 2nd disc tomorrow and if it doesn't work I will return that one.... and wait.... because this is ridiculous.

I got two disks from Netflix and neither worked on my HD-A1 (not the latest firmware, though).

Just watched this last night on my A1 updated to FW 2.1. It was a Netflix rental and looked to be in good shape. It played flawlessly.

What contact information do you have for Universal. I too, am having problems with "Children of Men" on my HD-A2.

I second that. It played for me on my XA2 with firmware 1.3, but after upgrading to 1.5, it just won't read it at all :(

This is the first HD DVD I ever had a problem with.

I didn't have issues the first time through a week or two ago (save for freezing when paused more than briefly), but on trying to play some scenes again yesterday I got lots of locks, stuttering, and errors. Neither cooking nor cleaning the disc helped. I don't recall using the "scenes" menu the first time, this time I did to access chapters.
Main difference from the first play was the update to 1.3.

Won't Universal just be sending out discs from the same messed up production run as replacements?

How is that any better than trying your luck at the point of purchase?
