Hello, everybody !

I have a question about my NEC 9PG:
When I turn the PJ on, it doesn't lock correctly on the input signal
(source is Momitsu using DVI->RGBHV cable, 720P).

I see "garbled" image of the Momitsu main screen (no DVD loaded yet).

When I switch to another mode (e.g.: 1080i) and then back to 720P,
everything looks fine.

Is this a normal behavior? If not - what should I do?

thanks in advance !

Sounds like some of the capacitors in the Oscillator circuit on the Deflection board are starting to cause trouble. (No I don't know exactly).

The other possibility is the system board is playing up.

Start looking for spares.

Thanks!

How do I test what causes the problem?
I mean - OK, I'll start looking for spares - but spares for what?

Thanks again !

Probably some of the caps going bad like Mark said. Unless you have access to an ESR meter, you may need to send the deflection board out for testing and repair. But then I'd also re-cap the wave board.

Spares? Yes. A spare set of the System, deflection, and C-drive boards at least.
Remember, these are all getting old now.
