I am doing GOM/Linacoustic on the bottom half of my walls and just painting the top half. I am getting ready to build the frames next to a door and wanted to ask advice on what you did. If you have pictures, please post. On the bottom half, I'm wondering if I should:

A) Run the frames so they cover the edge of the door jamb, and not put any door casing on the bottom half. Only put casing on the top half.

B) Same as above, put put casing on the outside of the frames after they are mounted. This casing would then be 1" farther out than the casing on the top half.

C) Put the casing all around the door first, and then stop the fabric frame at the edge of the casing.

Suggestions?

Thanks,
Guy

I vote for putting casing all around the door. First put up your wall treatment. Add furring strips above and around the top to give you a flat surface all around the door. Paint the exposed furring strip to match the casing. It will just look like a thick casing on the top. I have treatment the full height but I thought the pic may help. Plan ahead and put up two furring strips, one for each edge of the casing and you will have a more secure result.

Here is another shot of furring out the door jamb to meet the surface of the wall treatment on another interior door.

Great question and great response. I am working on this now myself.

Thanks,

Thanks BIG, those pictures help a lot. That method looks nice, so I think I'll go with something similar.
