I've had an issue with streaking on my Marquee for a while now. It started with the blue tube (streaks in dark scenes from left to right of a bright object), and it now appears on the green tube. I've also noticed that the streaking while 'bloom' pink when I'm moving my mouse around.

I just scored an Infocus IN76 and, while it's not a CRT, it's pretty good for my needs. Is it time to retire the CRT? I just don't have the time to put in the effort for fixing if it's a complicated task. I'm actually of thinking of disassembling it (on the ceiling) and selling off the parts.

Any tips?

If you have to ask, then yes, it's time to retire it..:D

Chances are the neck boards have gone bad. That's usually an easy fix... I can do it if you want..

Any tips? your 10 year old Marquee needs a minor repair so your going to replace it with the biggest piece of grabage ever made = Infocus DLP? I think yor going to very much regret this in the near future. Even if you only need to put in a $350. bulb the DLP will cost you more. However, if you do some quick searches on the internet you will quickly find how bad Infocus DLP's in particular really are. They have some of the worst reliability for an already unreliable technology.
I would either have curt repair all 3 neck-boards on your machine or replace them with 3 newer boards from an 8500. You can swap them out in about 1 hour, even on the ceiling.

I completely missed the Infocus part.

Cheers.

swing the rear panel down (or up for ceiling) and remove the 3 gold colored cage covers, then the 3 VNB's. The cards are Shown in this pic from Curt's site

Make sure when pulling up on Black ground leads you support the card with your finger in the opposite direction. I usually grab them with needl-nose pliers and wiggle/ pull up while pushing down on card to even out the force.
Re-assembly is just careful reverse of disassembly. The wires all have to go back on exactly where they came off, the White one is critical and has to go on the correct pin.

Don't expect a lot of [read: any] "sure, go digital" answers in a CRT forum :)

I can also understand the simplicity angle.

I'm playing with an IN72 (very similar to the 76) and really like that I can just plop it down on a coffee table and turn it on.
Having HDMI/DVI/Component inputs right on the back is a nice bonus (as is the user menu gamma settings, aspect ratio options, etc.).

Sure, I'll need to buy a new bulb at some point if I keep it (although the bulb is warrantied for 6 months) but my last ECP required a lot of work. Bad yokes, entire card swap, fungus on blue tube, shaky image, etc. I'm still planning on getting another but a digital might also sit beside it for gaming and HTPC purposes.
