Hi all,
I have a door going into my HT that we used an exterior door jam. When we painted the doors black I was told by the contractor that we could not paint the door sealing black. Is there something we can use to paint them so they don't stand out?

Maybe something like this stuff, It will probably peel and chip over time but you could just touch it up.

Actually this looks more promising

I think a big concern will be that where two painted surfaces meet they might "meld" and one will lift the other. You may want to experiment first.

As BIG said, It's going to chip and flake. Probably the first time you close the door. Depends on the type of weatherstripping.

They do, however, make black weatherstripping!

Good luck,

Tim

I just went down this road:

- tried the same black paint that I used on my ceiling, it chipped
- tried vinyl paint, it chipped
- purchase vinyl dye, never tried it. I ended up purchasing dark brown vinyl weatherstripping at Home Depot. It is so dark it almost looks black

I looked all over for black vinyl weatherstripping including the net and could never find it. If you really want to paint it I would suggest purchasing vinyl die which is supposed to penetrate the vinyl.
