who can tell me what would be the better display device. There will be some light in the room and it will be used by the family with a good bit by the kids. I do want the best picture for the times when we do what a bluray or hddvd

What's better? Without a doubt the FHD-1. At least wait for the sony 3000 series LCDs due soon-ish. Also, supposedly samsung, panasonic and hitachi are releasing 1080p PDPs later this year.

If you're going for plasma, I recommend that you better to wait for the 8th gen Pioneer (heard it's still coming within this year) which is the sucessor to the current FH1 elite flagship.

I suggest you make your comparison from there once this set gets released.
