Does anybody know what are the specs for videos to play on the Zune?

I have tried a few different software packages to convert ReplayTV mpg's to a format compatible with the Zune, and have had some success. However, when the Zune software sync's -- it goes through another conversion process to get it to the format ultimately required by the Zune.

I'd like to avoid the second conversion done by the Zune sync software, so if anyone knows the exact target format, please let me know.

I recently got the Nero 7 software suite through a free/rebate upgrade, so if there's a way to setup the profile in the Nero Recode software, even better !!

I have found that many of the conversion choices I've been making using various software packages convert to something that is "not quite right" in terms of the format the Zune can play natively. So when sync'ing, I get the dreaded "conversion required" so it goes through another encoding pass.

I finally settled on Windows Media Encoder, but just needed the right settings. I'll tweak them up to those specs.

Marianna - thanks for the pointer, but that software looks like it converts to AVI, which would again need another conversion during sync.
