so i have an ipod mini and some old sony receiver (2001ish) i think its a 575.
anyhow, I have noticed that certain mp3s I put on the ipod are for lack of any better term, missing parts, when i play it on the receiver through my big speakers. I listen to all the music on my PC and on my ipod with my headphones just fine but a few songs when played through the receiver are missing entire "components". Like for example is anyone listens to pearl jam I have an mp3 for "you are" and the whole riff at the beginning of the song sounds like it is being muted out and continues to be muted as the rest of the song plays normal volume. You can juuuust barely almost hear it in the background but for all practical purposes it sounds muted. I have had the same problem with the opening riff (which again is a major part to the song and continues in the background through out the song) of some ACDC song and I think a Zeppelin tune too.
I know that playing a compressed audio file like an mp3 through a receiver will make the distortion more obvious but this is just weird....
I am hooking the ipod up using a y-adapter out the headphone jack....could be a bad cable i guess. I have an ipod dock on order that should be in this week that will use the bottom port from the ipod but i just figured i would post this and see if it is obvious based on my description what the problem is.
thanks!
