I am in the process of converting my garage into a HT. I was thinking that if corners were so bad acoustically, what if I eliminated all the corners inluding where the floor and ceiling meets. It would not be that hard to put concave treatments in all the areas I mentioned. this would do away with all the right angles. How would this would affect the room acoustics.
Thanks.

Please, I really do want some input on this. Will it make a difference acoustically to try and minimize the right angles of the room? If you think it would be wasted effort, please say.
Thanks for any and all input.

Round would probably be really bad as it can focus reflected sound in odd ways. I've seen studios with eight-walled rooms that have sounded really, really good, but I wouldn't want to try to figure out the accoustics. Corner bass traps would be a much better solution.

Circles have bass modes just as well as rectangles have bass modes....you can't get rid of them that easy! Not to mention the treble focusing that circles do....you would be creating a problem. Even if you just arc your corners - the bass modes could care less. Would a squared corner bathtub slosh water any more different than a rounded corner one?

Corners are only acoustically bad if you sit in them or put your speakers in them - they are a good place for treatment though! The potential does exist with a square corner to focus a treble reflection just not as easy as a round corner - if that was a problem bass treatment that is also treble treatment will solve it.
