Hey all, I got a question. I currently have a 1000 watt amp, Rockford Fosgate 1001bd, powering a single alpine swr-1241d 12" sub. Because of space constraints in my new car I'm thinking of switching to 2 10" subs. What kind of difference in Bass am I going to get? Assuming that I get 2 subs that run optimally at 500 watts each.

Thanks,
GC

All things being equal (which they never really are), 2 10" subs can move more air than 1 12".

I used to have two 10's in my truck...now I have one 12. Both are good quality and driven with the same amp (300 watt Orion). The difference is, the 10's hit harder and moved more air, and in general sounded better for "rock" music. However, the 12 can go lower and reproduce frequencies that the 10's can't do. Therefore the 12 sounds better for hip-hop or R&B music.

It all depends on what type of music you like. IMO the best of both worlds is to have one of each.
