View Full Version : NEC 6 PG problem issue

Just wondering if anyone might know what may be wrong with this projector.

It's a GE Imager ( NEC 6PG ) that I took out the wave board to repair another projector but was working fine.

I ended up trying out another wave board from a PG that had similar board number except for the last digit, which did not work. I then found a replacementwave board that matched the original.

But after replacing with the proper wave board I keep getting an image that is unstable/ flickers/ has a strange bend in it and only lasts a few minutes before the projector shuts off and flashes F8.

I assumed the convergence board blew and tried another but no luck- same problem.

I tried a new system board as well but no go.

Any other suggestions what to look at next ?

Thanks,

Jim

Does the set run without the C board hooked up?

Curt,

Yes it runs with the C -drive unhooked from power, but unfortunately it has the same problem which is misleading because I thought the F8 error was a failing c- drive.

I tried another deflection board tonight as well and again no luck.

Thanks

The set starts up for about 30 seconds with a fine picture then the picture size jumps to a much smaller size although it is still in the same input and starts to pulsate ( larger- smaller-larger.....)

F8 on a plain PG can also be the Def board.

Mark,

I just replaced the def board tonight from one out of my 10PG and it did not change the problem,

Any other suggestions ?
I'm lost on ideas now.

thanks

Got it working.

Turns out it was an incompatible mixture of system/wave boards.
I originally took the wave board out of the Imager/PG to replace a bad wave board in my 10PG.

I got a replacement ( exact I thought with identical numbers on it and identical transistor layout ) that I put into the GE but for some reason as this was not the original board that came with this projector, it was causing this problem.

I re stocked the GE back with its original boards and now it works fine.
