hi,

i have a sony sony vph 1031qm and after many problems its almost working. the colorboard i believe is dead so i need to use rgb to input. the only input is rgb scart.

i made up a cable to coneect an xbox to the projector, checked the pins twice, resoldered, it all works fine except for theres no red channel being displayed. i know theres nothing wrong with the red tube. the green, blue and sync are all perfect.

i previously connected a hdd media player via a component to scart adapter and there were three picture options:

YPbPr which didnt work, displayed green only as expected,

"component" which did exactly what this xbox is doing now, green blue and sync were all fine but no red, im not sure what "component" actually meant, and

RGB, which all the colors worked but there was no sync.

any ideas what might be wrong? im 99% certain the xbox outputs the right signals, and the pins must be right for the picture to be working at all, and there no issue with the red tube being broken

btw the pins i have connected i got plans off the net, they are red, green, blue, +5v, +12v, RGB select, composite (for sync) and ground. im using cat5 ethernet cable for the cable.

Have you got a chipped Xbox with a VGA bios?

none74 you are wrong. you dont need to be high and mighty. wikipedias article on the xbox will tell you it outputs rgb over the pins i have used, *****NOT COMPONENT****. this is why an official xbox to rgb scart CABLE exists in the UK. i know the difference between the two. so before you try and berate me get your facts straight so you dont look like a complete tool. not everyone is an idiot and your not always right.

also i never said it was a 360. get off your high horse your fighting the wrong battle.

Mark, its soft modded, im not sure what you mean by vga bios. is there some kind of thing i need to do to set it to ouput the correct signal? according to wikipedia it does this automatically. i have a utility to change between pal and ntsc but that is all.

My brother just set up his chipped xbox to run with a PG Xtra, and the last piece of the puzzle to get it to output VGA was a VGA bios. You need to flash it over the current bios.

what kind of input is the xbox connected to on the projector? is it rgb scrart with composite sync like mine or vga with seperate h+v sync?

the reason i ask is i thought the xbox would automatically send out rgb+composite sync without the need for a hacked bios, is this incorrect?

Original xbox to RGB, sync on green (no HV).

I'm no expert, but you definitely need a VGA bios to get VGA (or RGB).
