Hi, i own a fluance 5.0 system and i want to add a sub. Since i live in an apartment on the second floor of the building, i don't want something too powerful. I don't want to see my neighbors every time a i turn my system on. By the way i live in canada so all prices that I'll put will be in Canadian $. I'm also on a tight budget, it has to be less than 300$ canadian. Right now i'm hesitating between 2 sub:

Audiosource AST-SUB10 : 260$ (avdeals.ca) cannot hear it since i would buy it online

and

Yamaha Flat Subwoofer (YSTFSW100B): 200$ (Futureshop, i also have a 50$ gift card that i could use there). so let say 150$. I will try to go tonight to listen to it.

Any thoughts or recommendation on those sub?

thx in advance.

I just want to clarify a very misunderstood point. There's NO SUCH THING as a sub "too powerful" . Sub's should be bought with economic, aesthetic and placement constraints in mind.

The sub's level is then adjusted to blend with your mains. Whether is a "entry level" or a "no holds barred" sub the principle is the same. The differences are:
The better sub will, in 99% of the cases, go lower in frequency with less distortion and will have the potential to play louder.

I am not familiar with the two subs you are referring to, so I can't recomend one over the other.
