Even after reading all the reviews, I couldn't resist buying a CM3020 at lowes for $60 bucks, since I can take it back. Looks like I'll be taking it back. I don't have an amp yet, but we'll see when I do. So what recommendations do you have? I know the 4228 is supposed to be pretty good, I would prefer an attic installation, its a big attic, just wood. Don't know if we'll be selling soon and would like to easily take it with us.
Main channels I want are 7.1, 4.1, 21.1 and 13.1

You appear to be not far from me. I use a RS U75 and a RS pre-amp.
I did get 4.1 & 2, 7.1 & 2 & 3, 38.1 & 2 & 3 and 13.1 & 2 and several other digital, non-HD channels, but since the leaves are back on the trees, I don't pick them up so good anymore. Northland sends 4.1, 7.1, 38.1 and 13.1 on QAM, so that's how I pick up my HD now.

Suprisingly, leaves really block signals well!

the cm4228 plus winegard hdp 269 preamp would be my choice there. the rs75u is not my cup of tea.

-the higher gain preamps will overload from the stations in yellow. the winegard hdp 269 is suggested
-the cm 4228 will receive ch 9 in yellow nicely

the cm 3020 should be ok though for your stations through red. what's up with that?

I suspect that antennaweb has not updated their database in a while, or a glitch has prevented them from recognizing that WMYA is now running at about 310kW instead of a few kW, as of about a year ago. There's no way it can be in the "violet" category at that distance. I'm about 25 miles away in the other direction, and it's probably my strongest signal.
