Is this an ok cable to use or should I replace it? I've always heard that RG-6 was better. This is probably a main line running thru the house.

If it were me, I'd replace it. RG-6 is the standard for CATV these days.

IMO, depending on a couple things like length of run and signal strength, you may or may not notice a difference.

yeah, and the house isn't that old (7 years). I think the previous owner had some satellite company out there and they ran those cables. If I were to guess the
wire(s) is somewhere around 50ft.

I also noticed that same wire running down the same header hole as a 220v wire for the stove. Should this cause some interference? I would think so since they are touching each other.

Even 7 years ago I seriously doubt if a professional satellite installer would've used RG59. Especially 50 feet of it.

RG-59 is more suceptible to ingress of OTA (both broadcast and other systems) than most RG-6. So, I'd try to replace it, if possible (don't kill yourself trying).

I'm pretty sure running communications cable longitudinally next to power is a code violation, in addition to being a recipe for interference.

If you are going to have VoIP, Broadband or digital cable, I would recommend replacing it. Even a db or so more with 6 can make a difference how well the service works. If it is copper braided, most diffidently replace it for sure.

I wonder how they manage with all those parallel runs on telephone poles?
