I work for the local school division who owns a couple hundred Toshiba TLP-S30 projectors. These are ceiling mounted in the classrooms and are used about 5 hours per day on average. They are definitely out of warranty and we've sent 3 out for service incurring ~$400 for replacement of burnt polarizers.
What I'd like to know is how difficult is it to replace the polarizers (2 per color), is there some calibration (other than color purity), should they be replaced in pairs (per color) or can they be replaced individually? Lastly, is there any way to prevent the scorching of the polarizers in the future? Other than regular cleaning of the air paths.
I have been able to find what I belive to be the correct Toshiba part numbers for the polarizers (inner and outer) but have not had any luck with a full (mechanical breakdown & electronics schematic) service manual.
Any and all help would be appreciated,
