I think both technologies have highs and lows but let me as you this: Have you looked at an LCD in the dark lately? It washes out as well. For me movies are BEST in the dark...

We all know full well that Plasmas are reflective, but seriously it's really the only downside to the technology and we gleefully take preventative measures to reduce or eliminate glare and reflections for those few hours where sunlight may be a problem, in order to embrace that excellent rich natural smooth 3D better-than-LCD picture quality. Why do you think we chose plasma in the first place?
I can't stand watching sports on my LCD TV - the macroblocking and motion blur in fast action completely ruins the experience. And my LCD suffers from glare worse than my Plasma - when my room is bathed in sunlight my LCD's screen glows from the light reflecting off my white walls and the image gets washed out, just like you say plasma does. Sure the LCD is more resistant to sunlight, but not impervious to it. And i can't even see my LCD from the side - i have to be pretty much in front of it.

Really? Let me know where you find the LCDs with the black levels, real world contrast, color accuracy, and wide viewing angles of the better plasmas...

No that would require a decent contrast ratio due to the black and white pieces. :p

I thought LCDs had awesome checkerboard test pattern contrast ratios? :) ANSI contrast anyone?

I guess I'll never quite understand the LCD is superior posts. For the record, I have 7 LCD panels in my home and 3 plasmas. While they both have their strong points and specific application uses, I'm not sure how anyone with functioning eyes can look at ANY LCD and truly believe that it has a better picture than a top tier plasma (I'm referring to Pioneer and Panasonic). To my eyes, it's really not even close! I've yet to see a flat panel LCD with even half as good of a picture of a Pioneer plasma! I simply use the LCD's in guest bedrooms and my bar room, because no critical viewing is happening in any of those spaces! Otherwise, I'd have a house full of plasmas!

Congrats! I just had my first plasma delivered this AM and can't wait to get home from work to set it up.

You HAVE to buy a Top Tier Plasma to see the difference. That difference is not all that wide either. Not everyone needs to buy a top tier TV. many are satisfied with the Vizios of the world and many more are satisfied with LCD. Go figure.
Will you be watching your TV or the content?

Would you shut the hell up with your Vizio lcd in every post on this forum. My no name Sylvania plasma looks better than my lcd ever did.

Yea it seems the best LCDs can only take one of those four attributes you named (Sharp = Black Level, Sony = Color etc.), except viewing angle, none have all 3 or 4 PQ aspects won, all in one package.

tdogroeder 04-19-07, 02:09 PM Maybe Getech is jealous of us plasma owners because he wished he would of bought one after realizing his lcd is inferior to plamas.
RandyWalters 04-19-07, 02:20 PM I seeworse reflection on the LCD in the cornerYes, when the room is lit up like this the LCD has this bright glowing glare effect that severely washes out the whole image to the point that it's difficult to see what i'm watching so LCDs aren't always better in this regard. It's like the LCD screen is catching the ambient light and spreading it across the whole screen.
So getech, stick that in your bong and smoke it :D
ausplasma 04-19-07, 02:47 PM Congrats texasKA & L_Bo!!
BTW, when did y'all order it from? I did 2 days ago from the Panasonic EPP site. I don't when I'll get my toy yet... Looks like I'll be waiting for 2-3 weeks.. :(

I like.
You appear to have the same model Bush TV stand I have Randy! But looks like you modified it and removed the upper level, how hard was that to do? Also looks like you put a sheet of glass on the top - what is that for? Is that a center channel speaker on the base behind the plasma display? Doesn't it get blocked some back there?

i'm not sure if we can talk about where we got it from? i know we can't mention prices. but i bought it from Abes of Maine on Monday, and after 2 days of trying to sell me extended warranties and faster shipping, i finally said "if you would have processed my order from the day i ordered it, that would be expedite the shipping enough for me."
regardless, it is suppose to ship today and i expect it about a week after that.
i also ordered Peerless Industries HG series articulating arm mount. the high gloss finish will match perfectly with the 75u.
will post pics when everything arrives! can't wait!

Cool. All the Best! I still don't know when I'll get mine. Panasonic/EPP sucks! :(

Doesn't it get blocked some back there? The glass top was an experiment - i just laid it on top of the table but it's gone now. I did modify the stand - i cut the sides down by about 10 inches so the TV sits a lot lower, i left out the center storage section and left out the shelves, and i installed 6 caster wheels to make it easy to move. The center speaker is set back a bit, and the little clock in front doesn't really interfere with the sound. I used the swivel top part for the LCD to the left (semi-temporay experiment as a possible combo TV and PC Monitor). I originally bought this table in preparation for an RPTV a few years ago, but i ended up realizing that Plasma was way better so i got one of those instead :p

What type of person kicks a happy individual? Forget which tech is better. someone posts how happy they are and another person comes in and beats him/her down. People sure can suck.
