I was going with the Epson home today for the great price and the free extended warranties that were ending today. So I really didn't consider the Panny (or others) as the Epson would work. One factor would be which is brighter at a 13' throw distance in the same lamp mode? Are there any other significant differences? gr1 04-19-07, 11:58 AM can you please pm me the rebate details?? i must be blind cuz i don't see anything reconlabtech 04-19-07, 12:14 PM can you please pm me the rebate details?? i must be blind cuz i don't see anything Go have a look at Projector People, that have it listed right now. Phaffendorf 04-19-07, 12:27 PM This projector has been widely known for quality control issues.... that is why this rebate is being offered. kej2u 04-19-07, 12:34 PM Arg, your great info just made my buying decision for today require a revisit. Art on Projecetorreviews stated the Epson is the brightest 1080p LCD there is. I ordered the Epson over the Panasonic since it has best in class lens shift, best brightness, and (since it's new) it has the most recent technological advancement of the 1080p LCD class. The Oppo deal for the Panasonic is nice but I've no need for it since I already have an XA2. chuckvb 04-19-07, 12:44 PM Some difference in order of importance to me. Epson appears to be brighter (I wish they would pick a standard screen distance and screen size for comparison purposes) Epson has HDMI 1.3 and deep color (ya ya but I've already got a PS3 and my summer receiver buy will be HDMI 1.3 too) Panasonic has to HDMI and Component inputs. Are there any other significant differences? controller2k 04-19-07, 01:37 PM And they both have the same panels. The Panny adds motorized focus and zoom, top-loading bulb and side-loading filter for easier to maintain for those with celing mounts, it adds waveform and CCM color tweak modes, a quieter fan (don't quote me on that one), smoothscreen [which does NOT effect sharpness on this unit now that I have seen it] and a defeatable, physical, additional color filter built-in. This in addition to the two HDMI and component inputs. As for deep color: who cares? Deep color must be used from the source all the way through. Your (and my) PS3 will be useless for deep color unless movie discs and HDTV are mastered in it. None are. I doubt many will be. The only known deep color source is a Sony HD camcorder. The Epson is brighter, but just slightly when both are calibrated similarly. Depending on your screen size and projection distance, as you mention, the differences may be moot. That's all the differences I can think of now. |
