View Full Version : Why Is Pioneer Holding Back Info on New Models?
Deandome 04-19-07, 02:04 AM We've been reading details about all the current and soon to be released Panasonic models for months...before CES, even. Sony too...people knew months ahead of time about the upcoming LCD and DLP releases.
But nobody's produced a whiff of verifiable info (other than "I heard from my cousin who works at BB...") on what Pioneer will be bringing to the table.
Specs...photos...features...NOTHING!! Is this a sign that their releases are a long way off...Aug.- Oct. or something? Or are they one of those rare firms that keeps it's mouth shut to the public until BLAMMO...there's a press release, they go on sale in 2 weeks?
I don't get that in this field. When a competitor comes out with something new & exciting, you need to jump in and say.."look what we have coming out soon...wait a little bit, it'll be worth it" to stop people from going into their camp. And you need details, not vague promises (unless you're Apple).
dssturbo1 04-19-07, 02:38 AM Pioneer rumored to have anew model press release in Rome, Italy sometime in May and first 8G displays for sale in mid to late june and early july.
people are more used to panasonic and samsung coming out with their new models closer to CES. while pioneer has waited until the summer usually.
dlfromcanada 04-19-07, 09:29 AM I agree, Pioneer could throw us a bone or two
Cleveland Plasma 04-19-07, 10:03 AM I still am interested to see of there models are going to be 1080P for sure.......

Much of Pioneer's 2007 lineup will not be out until late summer, August/September. However, Pioneer will have one or two new models out before then, in June/July.
creemail 04-19-07, 10:12 AM Its also interesting to hear what kind of pricing will be on their models. They will have to lower their prices from their $8000 50"1080p model.

andy sullivan 04-19-07, 11:04 AM The point remains, why the hush hush with specs and basic information? How about a few professional reviews prior to release to the public to wet the appetite.

I could say that about alot of products. :) Wait till May and then cry and moan everyone.
andy sullivan 04-19-07, 12:04 PM The difference here is, Osborne's replacement had not yet been produced, while Pioneer's has. I equate it to the auto industry. We see road tests in Motor Trend, Car and Driver, and Road and Track months prior to public release.

Pioneer has shown a few prototypes. Think about SED.
Pioneer will be holding their line show shortly. I'd imagine once the dealers and press get a hold of the information of their coming line that it will spread throughout the forums and such. Be patient. Pioneer always comes out with the best looking stuff, so it will be well worth the wait.
