Can we get a summary of the upcoming 1080p panels for the coming year (or currently out) that are larger than 50" ? It seems that 50" is a magic number, but I already have a 50" RP-CRT, and I'm only going to buy a new set if its a true upgrade to something I want to keep for 10 years.
A 58 or 60" would be ideal, but any over 50" would be a possibility. I'm 10' from the screen. I also have an HD-DVD player, and high-dev cable.
Features that I'm concerned about are:
1) Black level. I do watch movies in the dark.
2) 1:1 pixel mapping. Not a killer, but with the type of money, I'd like to be able to use the computer or video games -- and 1:1 is simply going to have less artifacts when viewing HD-DVD.
3) 1080p 24 fps. This is likely going to be the hardest one. It seems only certain projectors really display this at a multiple of 24 fps. Even the 120 Hz LCD panels seem to be converting to 60 fps first, before going to 120, meaning that you are not getting a true multiple of 24. It would be nice to watch movies without the 6 Hz jitter from the 3:2 pulldown. Of course, I may have to upgrade my HD-DVD player. But, the panel is to last 10 years, so I don't want lose this possibility for 10 years.
I've seen the Pioneer Pro FH-D1 (or some such number), and I found it awesome in the showroom, but didn't actually check out the features I mention. Also, it's only 50".
Can we get a list, and answers to the 3 questions so that I (and maybe some others) can start saving up? Thanks.
