You can see my progress in "not a PJ HT", I don't know how to put it in my sig. or how to change it's name.

Now to my request. I am running wires now, but I am unsure of the number of runs and sequence of wiring the lights and switches. I have a 13x16 room. I am running separate circuits for the A/V gear, future PJ and lights. I want to install a light control that will allow me to select which lights are on (reading can lights above seating, backlighting for TV, and soffit lights). Is it possible to do this via remote control?
I also want to know what the advantage or need for running special "inwall" speaker wire as opposed to the regular stuff.
If anyone has wiring diagrams or schematics of how they wired their home theater and are willing to share with me, please send them via pm.
Thanks in advance for your insight and wisdom.

run one romex to each area/zone of lighting you want to control in isolation. (ceiling cans, rope, floor, etc)

I would not worry about inwall rated stuff unless your code is that restrictive.

For lighting you need to decide on your control - some use Graffik Eye other like me have used Insteon.

In majority of cases you need to select the location for the main controller and the run romex feed to this location - and then run a seperate romex for each of the light 'groups' you want separate control of. So in my case I ran one romex for Sconces group, another for Rope light in crown, another for Star Ceiling, another for Stage, another for Front Bar and another for Rear bar.

In my case as I used Insteon the separate Dimmers/Toggle Switches are located in a closet and I have a KeyPadLinc by the door that acts as main controller.

Other electrical was a 15A general room recepticle circuit and 2 x 20A into the equiment closet. My PJ & Sub outlets were run via the equipment closet so I can pass them via a UPS/Conditioner.

More details in my thread.

Good Luck
Mark

Thanks for the replys. I was able to get a couple illustrations of your setups printed.
If there are any more out there willing to comment, I am all ears.

How do I change the title to this thread, and also how do I link it in my signature?

Thanks again.

I think only a moderator can change title - if you are thinking of starting a main thread fro your contsruction you might be bnetter just to start a new thread. That way you can start of with a better description on where your starting and what you hope to accomplish.

For adding a link to a thread in title you do that in your User Profile.

Cheers,
Mark
