Hello...I just made a couple posts excited about my new 42px60u....well I just found a dead pixel!!
SO -- what do I do? TV is only about 10 hours old. I have the option of returning it for a refund. They don't have any more of this model left so replacement is out.
So my questions:
1) Do I return it or does every plasma have dead pixels.
2) What do I replace it with?
3) Is extended warranty worth buying along with a plasma?
I appreciate all your input as I'm a touch clueless and very dissappointed right now. Thanks.

See if they have the 42px75u and ask them to give you your refund plus a little towards that.

Plasma's have allot of Pixels if it is stuck it might go away it just depends how far you are sitting and if you are able to notice it.
Its very noticeable near the middle of the screen. When on zoom, it is about 1/8th inch big.
Are the extended warranties worth it? I think it costs me about $500cdn for 4 years at futureshop.
The more replies the better please..I want to have this straightened out by tomorrow night.

In your case return it. The warranty is a matter of opinion is the peace of mind worth it to you? Call Panasonic see if they will fix as well that is another option.

I would agree with Roman....return it to Future shop
If they have the newer model buy that or check out the new samy 42".

This happens with plasma technology. You can have a unit with no dead pixels and bam one day you do. Is it worth packing up and swapping? The next one may have a dead pixel too. Tough call.......
what is the model number on that samsung 42?
any more suggestions for replacement units? Was sort of trying to decide between the 4264 samsung and the 75u panasonic..haven't been to the store to look at them yet though..that is the plan tonight so I would really appreciate some honest opinions. I just want a TV at least as good as this 60u looks.

You can't go wrong with either the 4254/64 or the 75u. If you could shell out couple of hundred more then you could also look into the pio 4270, very good plasma.

Zooming in should not affect the size of the dead pixel. That sounds like you have a dead cluster, bad processing board, or something. Zooming does not change the size of your pixels...

The 75u is the newer model to the 60u...you will have better SD processing with it due to an upgraded processor.
thanks guys..turns out it was a problem with the set top box....fixed now..and I'm a happy camper again!!
