Hey Guys,

First post on AVS so hopefully this is the right forum to ask this question.
We'll be using plasma screens outdoors for a few events and historically (and obviously) the displays have been rendered useless as we couldnt even see any images.

Without having to buy a new screen altogether are there any filters, films, or even awnings out there that would help improve the visibility?

i've seen awning/spoiler-looking things used before, but cant find them on the net.

any guidance will be useful!

thanks!

First, does your plasma have an "anti-reflecting coating" (NOT non-glare) on the front surface. You can tell if there is a purple-blue cast to the dim reflection on the front. If not, you will need to add it and it is not cheap. A large double sided AR window in plastic can run about $250. You may be able to get some details by going to a sheet plastic company like Tap Plastics. Otherwise, the reflection off the front is greater than the light output from the display and there is precious little you can do to fix it.

You are also on the right track in that putting a shadow over the display will go a long way to make it readable in sunlight.
