Maybe it is old news, i just discovered today that the HC3100 is doing 1080P in combination with the Sony PS3. This feature is nowhere to be found in the manual or mentioned at reviews.

With a Sony PS3 you have to manual enter this value. With autodiscover the PS3 will 'discover' 1080i as the best possibility.

Blue ray will play at 1080P, i checked it. I am not sure the picture quality is better. Some difficult test i made with white and black lines showed some problems with 1080i. The same line-torture-test with 1080P looks much better. This could indicate that the HC3100 has problems with 1080i signals. But of course this knowledge is useless because the HC3100 plays perfect at 1080P

I don't think the 3100 will indicate 1080P. I think it can accept 1080P signal but downscale to 1080i to display.

The HC3100 shows '1080P 60Hz ' in the menu so i think it really receives 1080P signals form the PS3.

Of course the HC3100 has to downscale these signals tot its native resolution, 1280x720.
