I'm thinking about buying the cable to upscale dvds, but is it worth the money, do regular dvds look good in high definiton on the xbox 360?

it's not as simple as yes or no.

do they look better? yes, if your tv accepts the correct colorspace over VGA

do they look high def? no, not entirely. some titles compare pretty well, other titles dont.

is it worth 40 bucks for the cable? yes.

The vga upscale is very good but vga color depends on your display. The good news there is that the next update is going to improve vga options so that you can switch colorspaces. Basically VGA should work better with a lot more displays after the update.

The 360 scales better than many hdtv's so how much improvement you see is largely dependant on how good the scaler was in your TV to begin with. For me it is a noticeable improvement for DVD's on my dlp projector. Of course now I'm now pretty hooked on hd-dvd's anyway...

from everything i've seen, the ebay and playasia cables have seen mixed results. i personally wouldnt buy one, but you can risk it if you like. some people say they work fine, others say they look like garbage.

MS VGA cables here. I'd say they are worth it. As someone with many dvds who isn't ready to forge ahead into the whole HD-DVD/Blu-ray realm I'd say it is a nice (cheap) option to hold out till the hi-def disc wars start to settle and come down in price.

I have the official VGA cable and the upscaled DVDs look nice on my LCD set. You might need a calibration DVD (like Avia) to get the most out of your VGA connection though.

I've got the MS VGA cable hooked up to my HP Plasma, and I could see a noticable improvment in the upscaled image over the progressive image using component. I'd say it is worth the $40 assuming (as others above have noted) that your TV plays nice with the signal outputted by the 360.

Does anybody know if the 42" Westinghouse 1080p LCD handles the VGA well?

I have the Dragon cables (PlayAsia) and they work fine. No image quality issues for me. I recommend them.

It handles it very well. I have it connected to mine and dvds look great and games look great. I have not had any problems with the vga connection on the westy.

Got mine off of ebay. I was advised to make sure that you get the ones with a gray casing instead of a black one. My cable works great and I paid about $25 shipped.
