I was having drops and pixelation from directv back in Feb. on a few HD channels and any slight weather occurance I would lose signal. I checked it and was getting a signal of 92 on Sat A, 40-55 on Sat B and 65 on Sat C. After tightening the mounting and resetting the mast back to plumb, I easily got the signal back to a 92 on Sat A, 90 on Sat B and 92 on Sat C. Now a month and half later with the tree leaves growing in I have lost Sat B almost completely back to 0, while Sat a and C are still in the 90's. Sat B is a good bit lower and to the right and I know which tree is causing the blockage and it's coming down net week. My ota goes through quite a bit of tree coverage and haven't had a problem with it, except when extrememly windy. nodoubt 04-20-07, 12:07 AM with a digital signal like directv or from your local station broadcasting ota it's just a matter if your getting a good solid signal so you do not have pixelating situation or complete loss of signal. example a 70 signal as long as it is good should give you the same picture quality as a 95, it's just that the 70 is much more likely to lose the signal due to weather etc. or have a break up and cause a loss or glitch/pixelation probelm with your viewing. there are lots of variables with equipment and your entire setup. i have a fox local that i can barely pull a 68-70 signal from using a directv hd tivo singal strenght meter. as long as there is no weather rain/wind problems the picture quality is great with shows like american idol or the nascar races. and i have a local cbs ota station that i can pick up with a solid 90-92 and the pic is usually great on it also EXCEPT that station seems to have a problem where there is usually 2-4 1 second glitches an hour in their transmission. as for directv i've had signal strenghts in the 50's and still gotten a good solid pic, but any clouds or rain comes by and the pic is pixelating or gone completely. ......tx......this is what im coming up with....http://i.pbase.com/o6/42/367342/1/77440898.6WH5Jesk.tvtestshot1075x559.jpg GeekGirl 04-21-07, 08:41 AM Don't forget to check the other satelllites. This test is for 101W. I see a "-/+" after the satellite name. Hit "+" and see what happens. With your az/el, I'm guessing you're in the southeastern US (southwest of me anyway). The 43 deg elevation is fairly high up, but the trees can and will kill the signal. Especially evergreens. I was OK on the 101W satellite (in the clear), but 0 sigs on 119W (in the trees). That's why I'm now on FiOS. nodoubt 04-22-07, 12:39 AM Don't forget to check the other satelllites. This test is for 101W. I see a "-/+" after the satellite name. Hit "+" and see what happens.
