View Full Version : anyone skinned their xbox 360?
BillKen 04-20-07, 03:25 PM I'm looking for a very simple - plain old silver (home theater equipment "silver") style skin for the right side of my xbox 360 that will match the silver faceplate I have on it.
I'd really like for my 360 to blend in with the rest of my home theater setup but as it sits now (pun intended) the white, right side of it (it sits horizontal) sticks out like a sore thumb.
I've tried every skin site I can find and everything is either some obnoxious 3D art, silly looking diamond plate/chrome looking type of silver or looks like something Walt Disney threw up. :)
Can anyone suggest a skin site that may be able to offer a plain old every day silver skin? I've tried emailing a custom request to decalgirl.com but haven't heard anything back yet.
Thanks.
FourDoor 04-20-07, 03:59 PM If you just need one side to cover, go to the mall and I'm sure you'll find a vinyl decal vendor in there selling stickers. Just tell him to cut you a sheet of his silver vinyl and go home and trim it to fit your 360 yourself.
zer0cool2007 04-20-07, 04:06 PM I bought a Glossy metallic looking red faceplate at Best Buy, and found a metallic glossy red skin set on Ebay that matched it perfectly. The seller was Dansdecals. He has chrome, brushed chrome, and a light grey that might work for you. I think I paid about 10 bucks. My living room is decorated in Red and Black, so I've got the Black PS3 and the REd 360 on the shelf below the TV
FrankJ.Cone 04-21-07, 07:35 PM I bought a black skin from www.decalgirl.com
Went on easily and has stayed on just fine.
PimpPenguin75 04-21-07, 08:24 PM Consoleshop.com has cases that are mettalic black for 45 bucks. Full cases
I put on skins for my sons 360, HDDVD Addon, PS3, and for the hell of it painted my Sony DVDirect. :D
Makes my living room set up look much better than looking at white on the 360, and add on.
I also painted the gray area of the HDDVD addon, plus painted the white vent holes.

saturnotaku 06-11-07, 08:37 AM I'm debating over whether to skin my 360 or replace the case outright. Decalgirl's skins look really wicked, and that's the way I'd probably go. Heck, I may just buy one for each of my consoles (360, PS3, Wii) and one for my RAZR phone.
steve68 06-11-07, 09:32 AM I have the decalgirl skin for my 360. I got the all over black skin. You will see parts of your white case with the decalgirl skin. If you don't mind that then go for the skin, however if it will bother you then buyer beware.
Or if you are out of your warranty, you can paint the remaining white areas on the console.
I used Decalgirl in the above photos.

The main thing I'm worried about with a total case replacement is doing something that will screw up the internals of the 360. My console is working absolutely perfectly right now (knock on wood) and I don't want to do anything to mess it up. I'll probably go with the skin. The white spots on the console don't really bother me that much.
steve68 06-11-07, 12:37 PM Here is a pic of mine with the decalgirl black skin.

Alternately you could use a Sharpie marker and color the white areas. hmmm...I just now thought of that.

You know, that is not a bad idea. I also think that black lacquer paint applied with a very fine brush would work as well.
A marker is what I used on the white vent holes on the Addon pics above.
I'll wait to do the same on the 360, when the warranty is up. Bricked once before, and the warranty came in handy. I don't care for the white (as if you couldn't tell) :D
just don't cover up those holes; if you can get the case off some spray paint might be best

Removing the case defeats the purpose of the skins.

saturnotaku 06-13-07, 06:12 AM Just ordered a RAZR and a 360 skin from Decalgirl. They're in the prototype testing phase of a Wii skin that covers the unit as well as the vertical stand so I'm going to hold off until they make those available.
If anyone is interested, you can use the coupon code GIMME10 at checkout to receive 10% off your order. :D
Decalgirl also has black cases coming in for the 360 controllers..... need to get rid of all that white!
Keep the screenshots coming men..... nice to see some individuality.
Darkmatter 06-16-07, 12:36 PM Just curious if anyone has had their skin on > 9-12 months and tried to remove. Friend of mine had the red ring of death and removed the skins prior to RMA'ing, it left behind a tacky residue, likely a combination of the skin + heat + time.
