i made a home movie (480i movie) and the xbox 360 will not read the darn disck, a dual layer 8.5G dvd. my regular dvd player will play it but it looks like crap! the xbox 360 will play a standard DVD+RW 4.7G, though. whats the deal?

What brand disk?
Mine plays Fuji's just fine...

You couldn't pay me to use Memorex *anything* again.
(Had awful experiences with their CD-Rs. 50 coasters later I swore they would get not one cent from me ever again.)

I use Verbatim with no probs...

For HD movies I use Verbatim and TDK DL's with no issue but I have heard that Memorex DL's do not read in many 360's ( depends upon the ODD ) .

i am an idiot. it looked like crap on my normal dvd player because i forgot to change it to 16:9 widescreen format to accomidate my plasma!

i just bought verbatim discs, will copy the dvd and see if it works.

I've had some trouble with burned discs playing in my 360 lately. Have you tried reinserting the disc a few times? That seems to work for me or letting the 360 dashboard load all the way before inserting a disc. Sometimes if I insert a disc as soon as I turn my 360 on the disc won't load but if let the dashboard load then insert the disc it loads.

Also bitsetting shouldn't matter. Discs play on my 360 either as their physical disc type or ROM.

what app are you using? with the xbox and ps2, I used to have probs with any disc using certain apps. since using Nero Vision, no probs at all.
