hey guys i've been reading the avsforums for quite some time and decided that the hd1000u is best for my budget and room. although i must ask you guys, is it worth it to get the 3 year extended warranty? i know that the 3 year lamp warranty is a neccessity, but what about the regular 3 year extended warranty? i would assume, other than the lamp and if i take good care of it, that the product should be fine at least 2-3 years without having to get the warranty. is it really worth it guys, what do you think?
much appreciated u have no idea thanks guys

It was worth it to me. I got that, but not the bulb warranty. Extended warranties are "insurance". And like insurance, you protect yourself for the biggest possible losses. And that's the projector, not the bulb.

I think risk of failure would be a factor in the decision making process. Would the bulb or the project be more likely to fail?
I didn't buy the extended warranty. I figured that I would upgrade to a 1080p PJ in a year or 2.

has anyone actually ever had something happen to their hd1000u?
Not if you plan to sell for an upgrade any time before the first one is up like I would. lol.

If you decide to sell it in a year or two, a lot of times the warranty will transfer to the new owner. Might be easier to sell if you can offer the buyer some piece of mind.

i was reading the warranty and it seemed like alot of fine print that makes it not worth the purchase of extension. it says "will not replace projector for prolonged use" or something like that.
it just doesnt seem worth it. what do you guys think?

Every warranty will have certain disclaimers to try and prevent people from playing the system. If you plan on keeping the PJ and/or the warranty is transferrable I would purchase it. Worst case scenario is you pay a little extra $$ for peace of mind.
