My inlaws are over frome France and saw my projector and love it. Other than the obvious 220V (not sure if the HD1000U will take that) is there any other limititions that may not make it work over there with a french tuner and dvd player?

As long as it is a European model, there is no reason it shouldn't work. I think France uses the PAL TV standard, not our NTSC/ATSC (a different number of lines per video scan). I'm also not sure if they have 220V, 50Hz or 220V, 60 Hz power.
It would not be a good idea to try to run a US model in Europe, if that's what your thinking.

i think the projector should work fine, i have been looking at these and teh hd70 optoma(wich i ordered) ones and have been told it shouldnt be a problem, as most will have a internal/automatic switching capabilities, and both run 480p/576i/720p/1080i etc...
here is the specs:
Power Requirements AC 100 – 240V / ±10%, 50/60Hz

Yes they use PAL and if the input uses 110-240 V what is the difference in a europian model? I checked the specs it looks like it would take PAL and 220V? What else could be different there? Is anyone using one of there over in europe?

if im correct, you will only need to replace teh cord lead with a suitable plug end, or use an plug adapter at the wall socket.

A North American HD-1000 should be fine for use in Europe. They even ship with both a North American and European ( UK style ) power plug in the box. I think the European models ship with a SCART / VGA cable, that isn't included in the NA models. This won't affect you unless you have to connect via SCART.
France is actually the SECAM video standard ( Something Essentially Contrary to the American Method ). The North American HD-1000 will handle SECAM.
