I just got home from vacation to find there was no HDMI output from my Vip622. After doing a hard reboot I got video and discovered that it had been upgraded to 4.01. This morning I woke up to find that I wasn't getting video again. Apparently the upgrade has really screwed up the HDMI interface! Has anyone else had this problem?

Yes, same problem with 4.01 here. I have to do a "hdmi reset" in the diagnostics menu of the 622 to get hdmi back on line. Dish is working on a fix. I have had email contacts with a Dish Software Engineering explaining my issues, so hopefully a fix will come soon. I am still able to use hdmi, i just have to do the reset when switching inputs.

Interesting you guys are still on 4.01. I got 4.03 about a week ago and thought everyone else did too. Guess not. I never had any issues so I can't say 4.03 will fix your problems.

It may in fact be 4.03. The first thing I did when I found the problem was come to this site and I saw a thread talking about the new 4.01 software. I'll verify the version when I get home from work.

I tried "HDMI reset" but it doesn't appear to do anything at all. So far the only thing that works is doing a hard reboot or changing the resolution to 720p via the other TV hooked up to the 622.

I just got a reply from Dish asking me to call a number to discuss replacing the 622. I told them I'd rather not since it's clearly a software issue, not hardware, and I don't want lose all the programs I have saved. I pointed them to a couple posts here on AVS so they can see I'm not alone. Hopefully a software fix won't be too long in the making...

I just checked and I do have version 4.03. I noticed that on one of the menu pages there was an HDCP setting that was disabled and uneditable. Can anyone tell me if this is new? Being that everytime I turn the TV on I have to change the output resolution on the DVR to restore the picture, I'm thinking there is some sort of HDCP handshake issue...

I had many issues with mine for quite some time-they shipped me 4 different receivers until the one I have now, which has been working for about 4 months. They say it is software, but that doesn't make any sense if different units running the same software are inconsistent. All I can recommend to you is to get another unit and try it. As far as losing your programs, I know there is a way to capture your recording to your PC-I saw it on a thread here at some point. Also, you should demand some kind of compensation from dishnetwork (echostar). All they kept telling me was to use the component video connection. This is absurd if they are putting a product out with an HDMI connection. I asked for compensation and they offered me very litt. After contacting the Better Business Bureau letting them know about the situation things moved quickly and I did receive a $50 credit and $5 off each monthly bill until the issue is permantly fix ed. This is a know issue with the equipment (if you surf the net you will see the problem stated all over).

That is odd that different units with the same software operated differently. For me it seems to be the opposite problem. This unit has worked flawlessly for months until last weekend when I couldn't get a picture. I can only assume that 4.03 was downloaded while I was away for a couple weeks and changed something. I've got my DVD player and my Xbox on my only two component inputs. Perhaps it's time to look for a component switch.

I have a new 622 being installed tomorrow. I will let you know if I have the same issues.
