View Full Version : OTA throughout house, now adding Dish 322 receiver

I have OTA that comes off the pre-amp and into a CM 8 port distribution block. The RG6 leaves the block going to all rooms (1 RG6 per room).
I just ordered a Dish 322 which is dual tuner.
I understand how to hook up tuner 1, which will be the same as my current old Dish tuner (Dish is only on 1 TV currently).
The new 322 tuner sends the signal out to a second TV in the house using a programmable UHF channel from 21 to 69.
I want to send this second Dish tuner to my bedroom. I can take my bedroom off of the OTA distribution block, but then OTA to my room is gone.
I was thinking of multiplexing the OTA and Dish (single channel from 21 - 69) signal, putting it into my distrubution block and then demuxing in my bedroom.
The User Guide for the receiver mentions combining the Dish signal with the OTA distribution using "Distribution Equipment".

Does anybody know what the "Distribution Equipment" is? It looks like something that takes multiple inputs and maybe lets you program what you want on the output?
I can easily get OTA to my bedroom and can I easily get the second Dish tuner to my bedroom but I'd love to know how to get both signals to my bedroom on a single cable. The Dish receiver seems to be very forgiving on which channel I choose to send the signal on.

Maybe once the 50's and 60's channels are no longer used after the analog shutoff I can pick one of those channels and combine the OTA and Dish signal using a splitter/combiner into my distribution block?

Any help would be appreciated. I know some of you do this distribution stuff for apartments and such and can figure out this problem in your sleep. :)

I think what you want is a TV Channel Injector. I'm sure there are multiple choices but here is one:

http://www.tinlee.com/

Click on "MATV Filters & Traps" then at the bottom click on "TV Channel Injectors" and look at the AC7 Series.

If you call them they can help you get just what you want. Make sure you ask about the affect on adjacent channels. It looks like you may want a blank channel on each side of your injection channel.

Yes, the Dish 322 Users Guide did state to find 3 blank channels and pick the one in the middle to make sure the signal from the receiver is not degraded.
Thanks for the URL, I'll take a look. This may be what I need to get the job done.

I read over at satguys, of someone combining turner 1 (on channel 3) tuner 2 (on channel 4) and OTA together using a splitter/combiner. It seems to work as long as the signals are balanced. I will give this a try first.
