I seem to remember that was the plan, but the miniseries ratings didn't justify it. The books are gorgeous. This one probably needed the feature film treatment with a feature film budget. Certainly, if they can do "Chronicals of Narnia" and "Eragon", they could have done "Dinotopia" and done it right with appropriate boffo cgi and vfx. And perhaps they will, someday, after memories of this false-start have faded. |
