So with the help of this board and about two weeks of reading and shopping, I've settled on a model, a price and a store to buy my first plasma panel from, but I'm wondering if there's anything I forgot besides to increase my budget.

-Extended warranty (3rd party?)
-Calibration and burn-in DVD/videofile
-Component cables

My setup is very basic: cable, Nintendo Wii, an actual PONG game and stereo (only, for now) output, so I'm only asking about purchase-oriented stuff, nothing technical about the panel itself.

If you don't already have one, you might want to spend a little extra on a surge protector for all your gear, just in case. Other than that, can't think of anything else you'd need. Good luck.

If it's a better known manufacturer (been in the business more than a couple of years and has built a reputation for quality), save your money and avoid the warranty and put it towards a power center (should be able to get a decent unit with surge protection and power conditioning) for the price of most extended warranties.

A calibration DVD can only be so useful. If you know what you're doing, you can improve the picture quite a bit from out of the box but nothing can compare to an ISF calibration. Judging by your setup, an ISF calibration is probably something you would pass on, therefore a calibration DVD might be a good idea.

I would get component cables for the Wii. FYI, don't expect to be terribly impressed with the picture if you only have basic cable (garbage in => garbage out).
