It is only going to be in upconverted SD on ESPN2HD theman23 04-25-07, 11:02 AM Along with what everyone said, it's not in HD. The only Champions League game that will be in HD this year is the final on May 23rd. Or so I've heard. jefbal99 04-25-07, 11:18 AM Along with what everyone said, it's not in HD. The only Champions League game that will be in HD this year is the final on May 23rd. Or so I've heard. Its the same as last year. I emailed ESPN a couple of times and the respnse that I get back is always the same "the feed that they have contracted is not HD" I believe Sky does the English teams games in HD, but thats about it besides the Final which is produced by UEFA. And the good news for Comcast subscribers is that, unlike last year, we now have ESPN2HD in our lineups! :D :D :D Can't wait, football/soccer is one of the sports that benefits the most from HD! jefbal99 04-25-07, 12:25 PM And the good news for Comcast subscribers is that, unlike last year, we now have ESPN2HD in our lineups! :D :D :D Can't wait, football/soccer is one of the sports that benefits the most from HD! I agree with that 100%, no HdNet for Comcast so its really nice that the ESPN family is doing the MLS in HD now. Also, it is rumored that all of Euro '08 will be in HD on ESPN. UEFA is producing the games from Austria and Hungry and will be passing out an HD feed to anybody that wants it. Hopefully, UEFA requires anybody with the capability to pass it along in HD, to do so. (Just like this past World Cup) A boy can dream for FSC HD (Fox Soccer Channel), can't he? I don't forsee it in the next 5 years, but it would be nice. romanesq 04-25-07, 12:48 PM Still begging Cablevision for ESPN2 HD. It would have been grand for the World Cup. coops75 04-25-07, 01:11 PM it is on ESPN2HD and ESPN2. It is only going to be in upconverted SD on ESPN2HD Does upconverted look that much better than a sd signal? jefbal99 04-25-07, 01:18 PM Does upconverted look that much better than a sd signal? nope, its got the ESPNHD pillars and its the same grainy pic you see on the Sd feed. During the group stages, a few games looked cleaner on the HD channel, but it was few and far between lynesjc 04-25-07, 05:29 PM And the audio is most definitely not true 5.1. PFC 04-25-07, 06:09 PM nope, its got the ESPNHD pillars and its the same grainy pic you see on the Sd feed. During the group stages, a few games looked cleaner on the HD channel, but it was few and far between I have to disagree, with a caveat. I record the games, then watch them aftewards. Previously, I recorded the games on a TiVo Series 2 off of ESPN2 and ESPN Classic-- they looked horrible. Then I got a TiVo S3 and recorded the games off of ESPN2 and ESPN and they looked better, but not great. I recently got ESPN2HD, and last night I watched a bit of the Man U AC Milan game recorded on my S3 from ESPN2HD, and it looked much, much better. So I personally think the upconverted SD on ESPN2HD looks much better than the regular ESPN2 analog feed. theguest 04-25-07, 06:15 PM I think it depends on what you've got. Probably would look better compared to analog, but not that much different compared to satellite sd mx6bfast 04-25-07, 07:59 PM nope, its got the ESPNHD pillars and its the same grainy pic you see on the Sd feed. They aren't always of best quality. Even the best game on FSC doesn't look as good as SD on ESPN2HD. Or for that matter SD on ESPN2 doesn't look as good as ESPN2HD. TVJunkyMonkey 04-26-07, 03:00 AM Also, it is rumored that all of Euro '08 will be in HD on ESPN. UEFA is producing the games from Austria and Hungry and will be passing out an HD feed to anybody that wants it. It is not a rumor, the ESPN family will actually have the games in HD. I forgot the source, but I remember that it was a trusted one, not like a website that would put up any BS. A boy can dream for FSC HD (Fox Soccer Channel), can't he? I don't forsee it in the next 5 years, but it would be nice. I think we will see FCS HD in 2 years, soccer popularity is growing big and fast here in the US and as time goes by, the prices of the HD equipments are dropping. SKY is producing EPL games in HD and it would be a waste not to let others have that HD feeds. WorldSports HD has at least one La Liga game in HD every week. I heard that FiOS will get the Voom Channels (this one is a rumor though)but for now only E* has WS HD. |
