I see this as very positive for HD-DVD but I've been corrected about 250 times :o

I've yet to hear anyone confirm this at their local store. Based on that.... take it as you will.

It isn't a nationwide trend, thats for sure.

Sounds like a big positive, so long as MS gets to work on those playback issues. You don't want thousands of people all pissed off at once, because their favorite title doesn't play as advertised.

I don't own one of the Xbox add-on HD players...but I sure as hell hear a lot of complaints about discs not playing, or playing properly. Food for thought.

Had the Xbox Add-on since day one (2 of them to be exact), and have had ZERO issues. Played all 50 of my HD-DVDs (including more that I rented) just fine.

I think you're just seeing the complaints and not the praises! :)

I'm grabbing a couple more of these at that price. I have 4 360's throughout the house and will now have HD-DVD drives for all, and one now for the HTPC. So glad Wal-Mart is pushing the needle.

So has anyone seen this price on the Add-on at any Sams Club near them?

If this is true it could certainly help push HD-DVDs into the hands of J6P. So far only early adopters are purchasers of high definition dvd players and we won't be the ones who will determine the fate of high definition dvds. What each format needs is a cheap but good hd player to persuade J6P to purchase this new technology. Without J6P hig definition dvds will only be a niche market product.

$189 at the Sam's Club here.

No dice.

Was that photochopped?
