I'm definitely excited for this one... even though I didn't get the HDScape sampler, it seems that the Antarctica preview proved that it's going to be one of the better ones from these guys.

BTW this one's mostly for my wife, because she's actually BEEN to Antarctica :)

I'm curious too. I saw a review of one of those eye candy HDDVDs (I think it was the aquarium one) and it wasn't too favorable. If this one is cool, I'm definitely interested!

Amazon still says its on pre-order. I loved the parts on th sampler, so I just ordered it.

i've got these discs for about two weeks already and i must say the scenary is breathtakingly sharp with not a lot of compression artifacts. on my setups it looks like one of the best demo movies.

one minor point, the color temp settiing of the camera used for filming seems to change from scene to scene. but this is how its filmed... not distracting from the real hd pleasure this disc brings !

The Antarctica preview on the sampler is better than the aquarium preview. If the full length Antarctica disc is as good as the sampler preview, I think we will be very happy.

Received my copy last week from Amazon ... just put in in. PQ is very good. But, seems to be another one of those HD-DVDs where the menu system doesn't work with the 360 HD-DVD add on ... oh well, can still play it ... just can't access special features or scene selection (or change audio tracks, which is, I think a feature on this disc).

A quick google search lead me to http://hdscape.blogspot.com/ - looks like the problem with this disk is the same as that experienced on the Aquarium HD-DVD, and the calibatration one as well. Hopefully there will be a fix available for download soon (I've read May 7th elsewhere... we'll see).

Water, water everywhere. There is a certain amount of gradient banding, but not enough to annoy me. The PQ is not perfect, but the experience of watching the penguins and the seals is very absorbing. This is a great nature movie and shooting in the wild is a challenge that these cameramen have responded to very well. I am impressed. I watched portions of the dvd after viewing the hd side. If there is any better proof that hd is better than dvd, I can't say what it is. When you have hundreds of birds in the frame at once, you can't see squat with dvd. Hd handles this type of picture complexity with aplomb.

I just checked. It still says June 27. Either they haven't updated, or they sold out.

Viewed a BBO rental of this title last night, played perfectly on the A1. Thought it was very well done, sharp focus throughout, light conditions were well managed, exceptional imagery. Extras were good also. FYI, the disc defaults to narration off, you need to go to setup to enable it.

The BBO copy I viewed allowed me to switch out my display from hdmi to a non-hdmi input source while the hd-dvd was playing. Interesting, but the A1 kept playing. Is this disc missing AACS?

That is correct, I detected this also when FF arrows appeared on screen.

Is this documentary in 1080p? Hdscape website and back of the hd-dvd case doesn't list any specs.

I have ordered the Antarctica Dreaming disc on the Black Friday deal, but have so far held off on getting Exotic Saltwater Aquarium.
