apparently, sicken by BDA's press release of achieving 1mil Blu-ray Disk sales (with <>2mil BD players around), HD DVD's PR firm Webersh & Wick contacted IGN directly and told them that HD DVD movie sales lag only 2,000 units behind Blu-ray with 998,059 units sold (HD DVD promo group has recently announced that they sold 100,000 standalone HD DVD players) ;)
Webersh & Wick also said that if taking into consideration of the preorders for Planet Earth and Matrix, the figure would be well over 1mil very shortly:D :D :D
According to their figures, HD-DVD movie sales lag only 2,000 units behind Blu-ray with 998,059 units sold. The firm points out that pre-orders of Planet Earth and The Matrix Trilogy will propel HD-DVD over the million-mark quite shortly.
Despite being the sole CE manufacturer of single format HD DVD player, Toshiba continues to beat the BD combined sales from MULITPLE BD CEs e.g. Sony, Panasonic, Pioneer, Philips, and Samsung. Webersh & Wick pointed out that the HD DVD hardware sales continue is INCREDIBLE 4:1 margin lead
Representatives also stated that hardware sales have continued with strength in April, maintaining a 4 to 1 margin over Blu-ray.
