Yes, it does display long file names.

I just got one a couple of weeks ago and I'm quite happy with it after the firmware update that allowed WPA over the wireless connection. It's played every file I've tried so far.

I have had one for a couple of months and can also confirm that it does. Very long file names that don't fit in the display space will scroll when the item is selected, sothat you can read it in total.
