After a ton of auditioning I have decided to upgrade my front pair of my Athena .5 system with the B&W 600S3 bookshelf. It sounds perfect to my ear and I like the size better than the 601 and 602 respectfully. My question is has anyone heard this combo of speakers or anything close to is. My use is 50/50 HT to Music both 2 channel and 5 channel music. I will not have the funds to upgrade the center for a few months so I was wondering if it would be a waste to upgrade know or wait until I have enough funds. Also, waiting would mean the series 4 which would potentially be pricier and they look to boxy. Thank in Advance. Also FYI Room size 16'x11'x8'. Sub-SVS-PB-10-ISD. DIY room treatments. Receiver: Older Yamaha.

I've not heard these speakers together but have heard them separately. Even though matching fronts and center are recommended and most ideal, I'm sure this combination will be fine for the few months you'll be using it until you have the money to upgrade the center channel. However, the catch 22 is that when you have the funds to make the upgrade, you'll have to locate the Series 3 center channel to obtain the best match. With Series 4 product coming out shortly, this may be tough. You might want to see if your B&W dealer will take a small down payment on the matching center channel to hold it for you now. This way you ensure a perfect match for your new 600S3's when you are ready for it.

Hopes this helps and congrats on finding a speaker that is "perfect" to your ears. Something we are all continuously searching for.

Well, one thing: with the new 600 series coming out you might be able to get a good deal on the S3's in a little while. Is there any possibility you could use another 600S3 as a center? It's cheaper than a dedicated center and will sound better.

I'm toying with the idea of going with 5 600S3's in my home theater at the moment. It would be better than my slightly mis-matched Paradigm setup that I currently use.
