View Full Version : Anyone traded in their HD DVDs? Primus67 04-27-07, 07:32 AM i'm not much on ebay. i know coconuts buys used dvds but i don't think they take hd dvds yet. anyone know where to get rid of them and maybe how much you can get for them...BESIDES ebay! David Bott 04-27-07, 08:14 AM They move very quickly right here in the AVS Marketplace if you are looking to sell them vs trade. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdisplay.php?f=140 But you need to be an AVS Club member to sell. As for Amazon, I swear I was there the other day and they had stuff listed just by regular people(not stores) and I thought it was quite odd. I don't know much more about it than that, I'm sure there's info on the site though. :) Vipper IV 04-27-07, 03:55 PM amazon buys used hd dvds? No, but you can sell them through Amazon. They collect a small fee, of course, but it's much lower than eBay's fees and you get reimbursed for shipping. If you sell an HD DVD for 20 bucks, you'll see about 18 of that 20. I've done it with DVDs, HD DVDs, and Blu-ray discs. jbug 04-27-07, 04:45 PM I sell DVDs and HD DVDs all the time on Amazon.com. I like it better than eBay in most cases. Primus67 04-27-07, 05:02 PM hmmm. i'm not much into the whole online selling actually. besides, it's only a couple discs. i'm going to check out some indie stores then maybe try amazon. thanks. nyg 04-27-07, 05:08 PM They move very quickly right here in the AVS Marketplace if you are looking to sell them vs trade. That they do. I've been fortunate to buy a couple of them there but you gotta be quick. nagash 04-27-07, 07:32 PM FYE seems to take them. No idea how much they'll give you, but judging from their used prices on HD DVD's and how much they give for standard DVD's, you'd probably be looking at like $8-12 each. BigMikeATL 04-27-07, 08:21 PM GameStop, EB Games, and Blockbuster MichaelHDDVD 04-27-07, 11:18 PM ohhh don't sell @ gamestop! They were going to offer me $5 of CREDIT for Goodfellas eapleitez 04-27-07, 11:27 PM Do not sell at a EB or gamestop, they insult you with their offers. I got the Constantine HD DVD, so I went to sell my 2-Disc SE DVD version. They offered $1.60, I **** you not  ferrari fan 04-28-07, 08:14 PM Nope, only because I just got my HD player 3 weeks ago. And I'm looking for good condition used HD and Blu Ray movies. I've bought several used HD and Blu ray's from local places here in San Diego and have not had any problems with them playing in my players. But then again, I do check the disc for scratches, etc. before buying them. Primus67...I sent you a pm. If anybody has HD or Blu ray that they want to sell / trade, please contact me by pm and include format, title and price. If you want to trade, please send format, title and what format and title you'ld like in a trade. Thanks, Marshall ocd_guy 04-29-07, 10:12 AM If you live in or near Vancouver, Charlie's Place on Granville takes trades as well as buys used HD DVD and Blu ray discs. Although, when I sold my first HD DVD a few months back, it was the first HD DVD the store had ever got, so I was given $20! (not for trade either). Generally you get more for a trade in, rather than just selling for cash. Next time around, I only got about $10 each for selling some sub-par HD DVDs that were given to me for review. Lately, you are looking at about $10-$15 for a trade in credit, which is not too bad considering that they sell new HD DVDs for a few dollars less than the average big box retailer. :) -Murray HPforMe 04-29-07, 11:52 AM Only two disks I've put on Ebay, one from each format: Dirty Dozen (HD DVD) and Tailor of Panama (Blu Ray). Dirty got $10.00 and Tailor $14.00. Both only played once each. mdg 04-29-07, 11:54 AM Worst case, you can consider donating them to Goodwill, Salvation Army etc. May not get as much, but you'll make some poor kid with a $400 DVD player happy. :) |
