Hey Guys, I have a few questions.
I just got XBMC loaded as dashboard. I have it networked to my pc so if I go into SMB I can see the files on my shared
folders in my pc. What I would like to do is for example go into Videos on XBMC and instead of pointing to a directory in my
xbox HDD, I want it to point to a shared drive on my pc. I believe it is a file I have to edit but how should the path look like to
point to a shared drive on my pc, should it be something like : workgroup/computer name/drive letter/folder ?
My second question, I have dvd movies ripped as .iso on my shared pc hdd, I can see them from XBMC but no dvd cover images, I thought XBMX would automaticly do this for me from IMDB database or am I wrong? Do I need to go buy the dvd profiler software?
Thanks for the help!!

The file you are talking about editing is called sources.xml. Here is how I have mine set up. You can see that I have it pointing to 3 folders that are on 3 separate drives. As for path, all you need to do is use your computer name and then the folder names.

As far as thumbnails go... You can do every thing you want within xbmc. No other software is needed. Simply go to Videos in xbmc and then click on the up arrow that will take you to your root video directories. Then click the white button on your remote. A pop-up window will come up with several options. Choose "Set Content", another window will pop up and you will need to set your content to movies and scroll through the movie databases to the IMDB Database. Then you will need to arrow down and choose "Scan Database" or something like that... Depending on how many movies you have stored this can take a while.
Here is a link to the xbmc wiki manual that answers most if not all the questions you will have as a new user to xbmc...

Also IMDB will not work unless your iso files are named exactly like the title of the movie. You can manually find them as well if needed.

That was very helpful, i will try that when I get home. I've been looking at options in XBMC but couldnt find the IMDB, now i know why.. cuz i didnt use the actual xbox controller. LOL
Where does the dvd cover images get stored? Does it somehow get embedded into iso file? Or does it do scan every time?

It is stored in userdata I think. BUt I am not sure. Also you should be able to access IMDB once you get it set up the first time, as I never use my xbox controller for XBMC.

Thumbs are stored in Userdata\Database\Movies\Thumbnails give or take a directory...lol
The movie scraper is actually very forgiving if you miss a letter or two in your movie titles and those that are missed or are assigned an incorrect movie thumb and info can be corrected easily. Simply press the white button on your controller while highlighting the movie with the incorrect info and click on Movie Info then choose Rescan. You will usually have a list of titles come up to choose from or if it is coming up with a list no where near your movie title you can do a manual lookup via the on screen key board.
