I just got an icon remote, and so far, I really like it. I was under the impression that this remote did not need to be (and couldn't be) hooked up to a computer. But when I put the batteries in, I noticed what looked like a USB connection on the side. Anyone know what that's for? Can the icon remote be hooked up to a computer?

As far as I am aware, the USB port on the side is there for programming or testing from the factory. I have read in other places that you, as a user, won't be able to get any usefulness out of that port. I bought this remote within the last month and it does not have the USB port on it anymore, but if you look at the circuit board, you can still see where it was originally soldered in.

thats correct. the usb port is there for x10's use only. when i asked them if they ever thought of "activating" it for customers use they said it would not be cost effective or advantageous to the customer to do so.
