View Full Version : Why was Eternal Sunshine targeted for ultra limitd release?
skibum5000 04-28-07, 02:57 PM Noticed that no B&M have it and even online many places don't carry it. BB online calls it a highly limited release to B&M.
With so many great reviews, one of the better recent releases for HD DVD, I wonder why target this to be a super limited release??

Nope, it is a very anticipated title, they are selling very quickly. I pre-ordered this one as well as The Game, but I chickened out because I was concerned about the PQ and deleted them from my pre-order list.
Well, I went to Fry's Wednesday and all they had was 1 left.
Mr. Cinema 04-28-07, 05:30 PM It's in stock at Amazon.com. Go order a copy.
darinp2 04-28-07, 05:39 PM I don't know how many the Fry's store in Tacoma, WA got, but there was one on the shelf when I went and I got it.
From Amazon's stock numbers, it looks like they've sold about 140 copies in a little over 4 days (from http://www.eproductwars.com/asinsaleshistory.cfm?db=dvd&asin=B000N3SSBM ).

I nabbed my copy from a local Newbury Comics on street date, which is weird since they still haven't received Dog Day Afternoon and A Scanner Darkly in either HD format.
opathoris 04-28-07, 05:50 PM Just got mine today from Amazon. I'll be watching this tonight.
My local Circuit ciity stores have it while Best Blunder does not.

This may have been an issue with these titles not being in the system (probably an oversight). DDA is now showing up at Newbury Comics stores. I saw a BD copy of it in Braintree today. I also picked up my copy of Eternal Sunshine at Newbury Comics. They have a great selection. Unfortunately sometimes they get only one copy in on release week (so you gotta be quick).

i did.but i was wondering why all the B&M stores list it as special order only or as a title designated for only release at select stores. even many internet places seemedto have lower stock than normal. anyway just seemed odd that BB,CC,target, walmart all seem to have taken a pass on offering it for sale in store except perhaps at most a handful of stores across the nation.
SED <--- Rules 04-28-07, 11:58 PM What tier rating is Eternal Sunshine? It looks like its gonna have awesome picture quality

They might in certain stores, but not in general. I think the report that had Nielsen numbers for individual movies support that a lot of these older ones don't sell many copies. True of some more recent releases too and there are exceptions, but seems to be more true with the catalog titles. I don't see this one selling as well as some of the action titles that are older. A Best Buy I went into didn't have "The Game" or "The Jerk" listed as getting any titles in the Seattle area, from what I could see on the screen when somebody checked for me.

Yeah the BB's and CC's in my area have not gotten either of these titles either. I still prefer B&M over online, but I'm beginning to get frustrated. These stores definitely are getting none or very few of these older catalog titles (i.e. the ones I want).
I tried to get this quote in a box. How do you do it?

Thanks!

local CC just got it in. looks likeit is selling a bit, since the pile was a bit down compared to many others. BB still doesn't have it and worse best buy restickered all their $20 titles to $25 so now they have less selection and same prices as CC (which marked some down from $30 to $25). of course amazon has way better prices than either.
