View Full Version : Chicken Little has the best PQ i've EVER seen!
Primus67 04-28-07, 06:44 PM i was in circuit city and saw some of CL bd version on a sony tv. WOW! i swear, it looked almost 3-d, it was THAT clear. i saw happy feet and it looked ok, but this took the cake! i doubt the CC even had the tv properly calibrated and it looked that awesome. i should have looked to see what type of tv it was, but i forgot. i have a crt. man, i'm goin back to see what tv it was cuz if it's my crt that doesn't give that sharp a picture, i'm gettin a new tv.
has anyone seen this movie on bd and have you seen anything on hd dvd that compares to this quality cuz i wanna compare and maybe get a new tv.
Yeah I rented and while it looks good I just couldn't watch the entire movie.
Kingram 04-28-07, 08:49 PM How does Chicken Little look compared to Open season?
willpooted 04-28-07, 09:10 PM How does Chicken Little look compared to Open season?
I think they both look terrific; however, some aren't fans of the "intended" film grain in Open Season.
100% agree, best picture my eyes have ever seen.

Watched Open Season the other night, and this is pretty darn close to CL. CL has better colours, but the 3D effect on Open Season is amazing at times !
ajamils 04-28-07, 09:53 PM Yeah I rented and while it looks good I just couldn't watch the entire movie.
Same here. I just couldn't stand the movie. Even though Open Season might be a little inferior in PQ but at movie is a lot better.
TheCrackedJack 04-28-07, 10:28 PM It doesn't really matter, since the movie is beyond terrible. Great PQ+Horrid Movie=Bad Disc no matter which way you cut it.
maingon 04-28-07, 10:57 PM I thought Chicken Little was a really good movie. Havent seen the bluray but it was awesome in 3d much better then the Worst animated movie in years (Meet the Robinsons)
greyrocket 04-29-07, 12:09 AM no flim grain in open season that i saw. thats was 5 star video with no flaws. :D

Yeah wow I'm just the opposite. Open Season is a terrible movie, imo. Chicken Little to me was pretty funny and far more watchable.
DVD_sanchez 04-29-07, 05:26 AM I can't wait till Cars, the only decent 3d animated movie coming to Blu-ray. Bar Shrek, I never bought a 3d animated movie from any other studio than Pixar (I own all the pixar movies). Not cuz i'm a Pixar fanboy (i've seen everything else), but just because the other studio movies are crap!
I hope Toy Story or the Incredibles makes it soon!
Icemage 04-29-07, 10:44 AM There's a reason Open Season and Chicken Little both appear at the top of the tier rankings. Simply amazing PQ in both cases.
P.S. What film grain? I didn't see any grain in Open Season, intentional or otherwise. What I did see was intential flattening of backgrounds, while Chicken Little retains its 3-D look in both foreground and background.

Yeah, because they are animation. Chicken Little has no fine detail and is very easy to compress. I have a HD copy of Chicken Little that fits on a regular DVD and looks great. There is no film grain, because there was no film, and no transfer, unless you call copying a file a transfer. I really wish people would stop using animation as a reference to picture quality.

Quoted for truth.

Yea I really like Chicken Little also.
MASrules 04-29-07, 12:10 PM As far as movie quality.
Chicken little, 5.8 out of 10 on IMDB.com
Open Season 5.9 out of 10.
The masses have it as a wash between these films.
I thought Chicken little was better, but both were OK. I certainly was able to "make it through" both and was entertained.
PQ was awesome on both, but again a favor Chicken Little in this area.

I agree.
ryoohki 04-29-07, 10:58 PM I like CL more than CARS, but i'll get CARS just for the novelity of owning a Pixar film in HD... I have high hope on Ratatouille tought..

And Happy Feet leads that poll too
Dave Mack 04-30-07, 08:33 AM Open Season rules!
Or maybe it's just because of Mr. Weenie!

I found Chicken Little to be almost UNWATCHABLE due to it's stupidity. My son dragged me to the theater to see it, and before we went to see it, I warned him that I thought it was going to be another case of where "all" the funny/semi-funny scenes were blown during the trailer. After the movie, he agreed that it was crap. We went to see Open Season in IMAX 3D, and I thought that although it was a "better" movie, it wasn't great either. I sure wish that we could get more tier "0" and tier "1" movies that are actually GOOD. Pixar seems to have the best "stories" for these types of movies, but I did somewhat enjoy Over the Hedge and (at least) one of the Shrek movies. ...And Mr. Weenie ROCKS! ANYTHING with a Dauchsund is COOL...

LMAO I would agree 100% with this statement. PQ is amazing but damn I can't suffer through the movie...
Dave Mack 04-30-07, 11:33 AM Very cute wieners, Joe!
Here's ours! She just won the Doxie Derby beating 95 other dachshunds at the races!

Jiffylush 04-30-07, 01:57 PM I like Open Season, Chicken Little and Over the Hedge. The Ant Bully and Happily N' Ever... on the other hand are far far worse.
Dave Mack 04-30-07, 08:10 PM I wasn't expecting much with Open Season but was pleasantly surprised. Not a classic but pretty enjoyable IMHO.
WilliamG 04-30-07, 08:19 PM Blu-ray is FULL to the brim of utterly crap animated movies with decent/good transfers (barring the wonderful Corpse Bride, which technically is puppets, not animation). Happy Feet (very misdirected), Open Season, Chicken Little etc are craptastic. I'm not surprised Cars is coming to Blu-ray since it's (in my opinion, of course) the weakest Pixar movie by a long way (and boy is it weak. Drags on too long, utterly boring moments, wholly unoriginal, isn't timeless like previous Pixar movies with references to people/cars of today [yesterday] etc). I mean take a look at the Disney movies on BD right now: Dinosaur, and (soon-to-be) Cars. See a trend? I've no doubt Cars will look fantastic on BD, though.
Rob Tomlin 04-30-07, 09:21 PM Speaking of Over the Hedge, any chance of getting this in HD? That was a pretty good movie compared to a lot of these other, less than stellar, animated titles.
Oh, and Chicken Little is the best PQ I have seen to date on either format!
Very cute wieners, Joe!

She's a cutie...Dachshund races are a blast...We drove down to St Louis to see our first race...what fun it was. First place out of 95...what a accomplishment...my girls would of ran the wrong way. :D These little crazy dogs are just wonderful to own. I highly recommend them to everyone...matter of fact in our neighborhood there is like 6 mini's 8 counting ours...everyone bought 2 since there so cool. Well enjoy your special little girl :) and congrats on the race.
maverick0716 05-01-07, 02:15 AM Yeah wow I'm just the opposite. Open Season is a terrible movie, imo. Chicken Little to me was pretty funny and far more watchable.
Same here. I also thought that it had a bit better picture quality.
chris r in pa 05-01-07, 05:30 PM Watched this Sunday night...terrible flick even for kids. Transfter is nice but then again, shouldn't it be?
methos75 05-01-07, 10:26 PM I just started watching Happily Never After, and I can already say from what I have seen that it pretty much crushes Chicken Little in PQ, it looks way better.

LOL.
Nothing like good ol' hyperbole!
Dave Mack 05-01-07, 11:07 PM Thanks jwv!
There are 3 videos of Buffy winning races up on YouTube.

Unfortunately the person who shot them had their camcorder sideways but you can see her win!
(ok, back on topic)
I guess I might check out Chicken Little but it doesn't sound too good content-wise.
:) d
I might rent this one...but with my youngest being 14, I probably will not purchase too many more animated movies until the Pixar movies start getting released.
