Just bought PS3 and my first BD movie - reservoir dogs. To my joyous surprise theres NO FBI warnings or forced UOPs nonsense. Straight to the title menu.

Is this all BD movies, a feature of the PS3, or just some?

Same question for HD-DVDs if you know too.

I realized something, since BD and HD-DVD uses UNBREAKABLE encryption, theres no need for an FBI warning since you cant pirate it anyway

I love this and one of the main reasons I ripped my entire SD collection was to avoid the FBI warning. I ripped them all as region 0 discs without FBI warnings. Irony that if it wasnt for the FBI warning about not copying it, I wouldnt have copied them to begin with.

Most of the discs I've seen have a warning of some kind.

Yeah, I think most of mine have them, too.

I still fail to see the logic in imposing an unskippable FBI warning against piracy onto a fully paid-for store-bought disc.

Its to encourage people to rip the movie without such unskippable warning thus violating the warning. DUH!

Seriously though, why didnt it come up for me? Is it the PS3? Anyone else have Reservoir Dogs to see if they get a Warning?

I would LOVE it if some movies didnt have warnings and I boycotted those releases that did have them - or just pirated them online. Why pay to be hassled?

You know I almost bought anyDVD just so I could rip movies to get rid of the warnings and UOP. But I figured out a way to get around the warnings anyway, I go to the scenes menu select chapter 2 then chapter skip backwards twice. This seems to also work with Blu-ray haven't had enough experience yet to say for sure. Of course that only works for those that play on movie start rather than disc start. My normal MO now is I pop in the disc, go get a drink and/or snack, and by the time I get back all the warnings have played and I don't have to be bothered with them.

As for your question I think it may be that particular disc that is like that, like the other posters, most of the Blu-ray discs I have played have had a warning at some point.

If only fewer titles had the FBI warnings at the beginning. And enough with the damn previews at the beginning!!!!!!!

FBI warnings, Studio previews, You wouldn't steel a car would you ? Some of the junk I have to sit through to watch a movie is unexcusable. I only have to see it on one release to know this.

We already have the option to watch upcoming releases in the menu, let me watch the movie. Disney is bad about this.

Skip to chapter 2 and skip back is what I do.

Best thing about my oppo 971, the firmware hack some kind soul put out that disables UPOs (user prohibited operations) so the skip button ALWAYS works.

Would be nifty if the PS3 firmware so amenable to modification.
